arbutuswitch:

Candlemas.

The lesson for this year’s ritual is this: you cannot take it with you. None of it comes with you into the grave, and the grave is where we all go. What is old and no longer useful is thrown in to the fire to make room for the new. Last year’s fruit has rotted and left behind this year’s seeds. What has died off will be replaced with something new.

It is not a circle of rebirth, but a spiral, curving upwards, returning to the same positions but a little higher each time.
