Started the New Year off right by hiking around my creek for a few hours earlier today. It was dreary and rainy but I still had a blast and found some cool treasures too! Lots of neat lichen, fungi, & moss, beaver-chewed sticks, a downed bird nest (which stayed where I found it since bird nests are covered under the MBTA laws), a snapping turtle skull and partial skeleton and shell scattered a few hundred yards up and down the creek, a severed catfish head and loads of great fossils too!
I’ll post some more pics of the snapper and catfish soon! Here’s a few other random shots:
The “swamp.” It’s overflowing after all the rain we’ve had lately.
The random unbroken light bulb that’s been laying out in the woods since I moved here over a decade ago.
