My hair is about that long and I don’t see why it would damage long hair more than any other length! I’ve never had issues, same advice as always, don’t leave them in too long or your roots will start dreading and it is a BITCH to deal with.
One tip though is to use a blanket stitch rather than normal braiding. With normal braiding you’ll have criss crosses aaaall the way down the dread, or if you’re wearing short dreads it’ll be even more awkward. With a blanket stitch the hair stays in a near little tube up near your head, usually like 4 inches or so haha.^_^
