DIY Macrame Crystal Necklace

magicusersresource:

Willow here with another DIY! This time it’s a crystal holder necklace done through macrame. I feel this is witchy enough for this blog for two reasons: one, practical magic is super important to me as a spoonie – macrame and the like is really vital to keeping my hands and mind busy, and I can put my energy into it; two, crystals are major to me! I use crystals for so much. I used a quartz for this tutorial just because it’s a larger crystal and I wanted the detail of the bag to be clear, but you can use any crystal.

Tools:

– Scissors

– Ruler

– Crystals (howlite pictured)

– Cord

– One bead with a hole large enough for eight snug strands of cord (8mm in my case)

1. Cut four strands of equal length a few inches longer than you want the necklace.

2. Knot all four strands together in the center of the cords. (If you knot it and it’s not perfectly centered, just trim the excess cord on the longer side)

3. This is where knowing macrame comes in handy but isn’t necessary. Make four knots, using two side-by-side cords. Make them small enough that the crystal won’t slip out.

4. This is how you make the net bag that holds the crystal. Tie similar knots in the two cords that are side-by-side but not already knotted.

5. When the net is big enough to hold your crystal, slip the bead onto the cords and push it down close to the net.

6. Place the crystal in the bag.

You can braid the cords but I prefer to leave them the way they are. Knot the back or do a clasp and you’re done! You can always push the bead back up and slip a new crystal in as well. Hope this is helpful!
