I’m driving up to my mum’s for Christmas. Our province’s highway is pretty dangerous. There’s freight trucks, snow plows, people going well above the speed limit, ice, etc. There’s been several deaths on it last month alone, including one of our MPs who was on the side of the road helping a stopped car. It’s bad and I like to be prepared whenever I’m on it.
Of course always do the mundane as well as the magical. Make sure your car is road worthy and mechanically sound. Have a full tank of gas. Let people know where you’re going. Tell the people you are driving to when to expect you. Check weather conditions for the day of travel and bring an emergency kit in case you get stranded. Be prepared for winter. Know what to do if your car gets out of control. Know how to drive in adverse conditions. And for goodness sake GO THE SPEED LIMIT.
Now for the magical. I use this spell a lot. It can also be used for on the train… busing, flying, walking, hiking. Whatever! For this spell, I put in my Traveling Book Of Shadows (which I keep on me):
A pressed sage leaf for protection.
A pressed sprig of thyme for courage.
A pressed violet flower for luck.
I also have a quote I clipped out of one of my spell books. It is below. As I sit in my car and start it, I chant “From here to there and back,
Safe and sound and right on track.”
(This little rhyme was written by Natalie Zaman, found in The 2015 Witch’s Almanac. )
I repeat this while I visualize my route and put it on my gps app. I see myself arriving safely and without incident. I do this until I feel confident and then start driving. You can also do some weather magic but I like to keep it simple. Safe travels!
