I love Kaui and its culture. This led to the occasion to study the traditional magico-spiritual system of the Hawaiian Islands, called “Huna.” In his writing of this fascinating doctrine,  the controversial (for Hawaiian culture academics) Max Freedom Long described the Huna belief that when people have some kind of meaningful contact with each other, a “sticky thread” comes into existence that connects the two and continues to connect them wherever they go  for the whole of their lives. Without going into the implications of Long’s belief or my notion of the Syntropic Enterprise ™ –  I wonder if that connection follows through time and continues to endure in reincarnations.
