hey,
thanks for your kind words! ❤ ❤ ❤ it’s a bit weird that thing that happens on here people asking me questions about life; i hope you all know that i’m an illustrator and a clothing/jewellery designer, not a shrink or counsellor? i offer friendly ears and a decent brain is all… anyway, let’s talk about flying for a sec but then i have something else to ask you about 😉that said i think i have some pretty good advice for you. CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy). very effective as phobia treatment – google it. i’ve seen it work before my own eyes even. (i used to be part of ‘exposure’ for social phobia patients now and then when i worked in a psychiatric office, again, i was just the office girl, i’m not a trained mental health professional. but it was pretty wild to see people go from sweating literal floods during first exposure session to being almost relaxed). basically you are gradually exposed to what you fear, talk through your anxiety, learn to deal with it and eventually it lessens – may not go away but you’d learn to deal with it.
that said therapy can be expensive. you can also drink a large glass of wine + knock back some tranquillizers before getting on a plane and then hold a loved one’s hand through the whole flight (yer boyfriend springs to mind).
all that said .. what does your boyfriend mean he’s ‘had enough’?? does he have to fly places w you to love you? jeez. maybe HE should get over it? or get some friends to fly with? by all means if getting over your fear of flying is what you want, you should, but it should be for you not him. whichever way you choose to do it it’s gonna cost you time, effort, money and all that energy to deal with anxiety. it’s not just gonna disappear, this fear has to be either dealt with or strongly numbed. both those things are taxing. i have a phobia i’ve chosen to simply ignore because it doesn’t come up often enough – i’m not gonna go through hell to get rid of it when it bothers me twice a year you know?
also flying is REALLY bad for the planet, we should all lobby for cheaper and more accessible trains. i also like hitchhiking.
