trollslottet’s endless list of Folk and Folk Metal bands: 6/?
WARDRUNA is a Norwegian folk project set out to explore and evoke the depths of heathen Germanic wisdom and spirituality. It was started by Einar “Kvitfran” Selvik in 2003, along with Gaahl and Lindy Fay Hella. They have since released two albums of a planned trilogy that will interpret the runes of the Elder Futhark. Some of the recordings are done outdoors in places or under circumstances of significance to each rune. They primarily use old and historical instruments such as primitive deer-hide frame drums, Kraviklyra, tagelharpe, mouth harp, goat horn, lur and more. Non-traditional instruments and other sources of sound like trees, rocks, water and torches are also used.
My favorite album: Runaljod – Yggdrasil
