glamourzombie:

Phew, it’s been long since I’ve last done a post in the series “Benefits of…“ referring to physical activity instead of nutrition! But whislt I’m very adventurous with food, I often stick with my fitness habits. BUT NOT THIS TIME. I’ve tried something so fun and relaxing at the same time, something that makes my body feel more coordinated than ever… hooping! Yeah, this is not only for kids. And I’ll tell you why:

  • It is a great core workout. Your core is basic for overall body strength, since it connects your upper and lower body. It involves abs and the often forgotten but truly important back muscles.
  • A strenghthened core also means balance and stability, not only good for your daily life, but also as a great support for other sports.
  • Although I do not believe in spot reduction (aka losing fat from only a particular place in the body) building muscle in a certain area is totally real! Hula hooping trims the waist because of the aforementioned core toning. Also, more muscle equals more calories burnt per day!
  • Enough for the core… hooping involves way more than the waist. It’s actually a total body workout that implies knowing your moves and coordinating your body parts. So, it doesn’t only build muscle, it’s very fun cardio!
  • The range of movements involves practicing your flexibility – one of the skills that we lose over the years, well worth some practice! Your joints will love it for sure 🙂
  • While I find it fun and it makes me feel all dance-y, for others it is something that induces relaxation because of the rhythm and some of the almost automatic movements you can do.

The hoop I’m using is actually pictured in the post banner, in teal and purple ♥ I’m so in love. You see it has like a “slit”? It’s because it’s a travel hoop. I’ll be reviewing it soon, so I don’t worry about details now. On the meantime, you can check it at the Firetoys travel hoop section and get some more info if you can’t wait for the review! haha
