Pasadena Folk Tree El Dia de los Muertos Altars & Offrendas, 2013

I go every year if I can, and Jesse went with me. I took a few photos of the altars. They mean a lot too me, and I find the remembrance of loved ones, loved pets, and ancestors comforting and beautiful.

This is the day I bought my Native American cedar flute from the shop and some new turquoise stud earrings (I ruined my original pair by leaving it in alcohol to clean the tarnish). I also got a hand carved giant nut pod dish or bowl or cup carved with two squirrels chasing each other. This has deep spiritual meaning to me. I keep it on one of my altars at home.

Since we didn’t have time to photo me at the shop, I put in a picture of me drinking TEQUILA! and wearing my Frida Kahlo bracelet (from the Folk Tree months before) at the bar next to the Glass House in Pomona, where we saw Emilie Autumn perform in April (I had a wicked jaw ache from sleeping weird and had been drinking tequila that day in Olvera Street too).

This post tied together oddly but neatly.
